What is Somatic Coaching?

The body knows the way. We just have to learn to listen.

Somatic coaching for people who are ready to heal at a level that thinking and talking alone can't reach.

You've done the work. You've talked about it. You understand it, maybe better than anyone. You can trace it back, name it, explain it.

And yet something still feels stuck.

That's not a failure of insight or effort. That's the body.

The truth is, our most significant experiences, especially the painful ones, don't just live in our memories. They live in our nervous systems, our muscles, our breath, our posture, and our automatic responses. Difficult experiences can create lasting patterns in the nervous system, breathing, posture, muscle tension, and automatic responses. Even when we understand what happened intellectually, our bodies can continue reacting as though the danger is still present.

That's what somatic work is for.

What Somatic Coaching Actually Is:

The word "somatic" simply means relating to the body. Somatic coaching is an approach to healing that works with the body, not just the mind, as a doorway into lasting change.

When we experience something overwhelming, our nervous system does exactly what it's designed to do: it protects us. It braces, contracts, freezes, or pushes through. And sometimes, when the moment passes, the body doesn't fully get the message that it's safe to let go. Those protective responses become patterns - held in the tissues, the breath, the posture, the gut - long after the original experience is over.

Somatic coaching helps you gently bring awareness to those places. To notice what's held there. And to create the conditions for your body to finally gently shift those patterns.

This isn't about reliving or retelling. It's about completing what was left unfinished, so your nervous system can come back into balance, and you can move through your life without the weight of what you've been carrying.

We move at the pace of your nervous system, never forcing experiences your body isn't ready for. This work is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in helping you build a greater sense of safety, awareness, and resilience over time.

Somatic Coaching May Be Helpful If...

  • You understand your patterns intellectually but still feel stuck.

  • Your body always feels "on."

  • You struggle to relax, even when you're safe.

  • You notice the same emotional reactions happening over and over.

  • You feel disconnected from your body or emotions.

How We Work Together:

Every session is different because every person is different. But here are some of the tools and practices we draw from:

Breathwork
Intentional, guided breathing is one of the most powerful tools we have for nervous system regulation and emotional release. The breath is a direct line into the body's stress response, and learning to work with it can shift anxiety, move through stuck emotions, and open up a sense of calm and clarity that's hard to find any other way.

Body Awareness & Sensation Work
We slow down and tune in. Noticing where you feel things in your body, what sensations are present, and what they might be telling you. This kind of attention, gentle and non-judgmental, can unlock things that years of talking haven't been able to touch.

Movement & Somatic Exercises
Sometimes the body needs to move in order to release. Simple, guided movements and exercises help reduce physical tension and support the completion of protective responses that are no longer needed.

Nervous System Regulation
We work to help your nervous system learn, through repeated experience, that it is safe. That it can settle. That it doesn't have to stay braced for impact. Over time, this supports the development of new automatic responses through repeated experiences of safety and regulation.

Integration with Coaching & Inner Child Work
Somatic work doesn't happen in isolation. We weave it into the broader coaching work, connecting what comes up in the body to the beliefs, patterns, and stories that have been shaping your life, and helping you integrate it all into something new.

What's Possible:

When the body is given the space and support to release what it's been holding, things shift. Not just conceptually, but in the way you feel walking through your day. The way you respond to stress. The way you inhabit yourself.

You might notice:

  • A sense of lightness or ease you haven't felt in a long time

  • Less reactivity, more space between what happens and how you respond

  • A deeper connection to yourself and your body

  • Anxiety and tension that used to feel constant beginning to soften

  • Old patterns losing their grip, not because you forced them to, but because you no longer need them the way you once did

  • A feeling of being more present, more grounded, more like yourself

This is what it looks like when the body finally gets to let go.

Who This Is For:

Somatic coaching might be exactly what you've been looking for if:

  • You've done talk therapy or traditional coaching and still feel stuck

  • You carry anxiety, stress, or tension in your body and can't seem to shake it

  • You know your patterns intellectually but can't seem to change them

  • You've experienced trauma, big or small, that still feels present in your life

  • You feel disconnected from your body or your emotions

  • You're ready to heal at a deeper level than you've accessed before

Imagine waking up and realizing your shoulders aren't clenched. Your breathing feels easier. You respond instead of react. Your body no longer feels like it's preparing for something that isn't happening. That's the kind of change somatic work is designed to support.
